CD Purchase 2004
Published on September 29, 2007 By OzGirl In Object Desktop
I have been away for some time from the site but when I first became member and owner of OD in 2004 and Wincustomize. I purchased a CD and have since paid membership here and I am still a member. My misunderstanding is that when I purchased the OD CD I received a letter from Stardock in which I was told that I would have free updates to OD. Now I find that I also have to purchase a Stardock membership or actually pay to upgrade my OD. I have also purchased Icons, themes and so on. I just don't understand why I have to re purchase upgrades. When has all this changed? Could someone please try to explain why this is so? I have written to Stardock but only had a reply that they have received my e-mail and will reply. I do realize they are busy.

Your original subscription was probably for only 2 years , not forever.

The free upgrades only last for the duration of your subscription.

Object Desktop and WinCustomize subscriptions and seperate, I'm sure you are aware of that. A subscription to WC does not entitle you to OD updates nor does purchasing Icons, themes and other items. If your OD subscriptions has expired you will need to renew in order to start getting updates. To continue to get upadates you subxription will always need to be current. Hope that helps.

You need to either buy the upgrades or resubscribe so that Stardock can continue to pay developers to make new products. TANSTAAFL

The new apps are worth a new subscription.  No matter how long you have been away, you still qualify for the renewal price ($34.95US vs $49.99US).

Thank you for that I appreciate your speedy replies, and yes I do know that Wincustomize subscription is separate from Stardock.

Thank you all again.
